“There are countless ways of attaining greatness, but any road to reaching one's maximum potential must be built on a bedrock of respect for the individual, a commitment to excellence, and a rejection of mediocrity. ” ~ Buck Rogers
Attention FACS teachers and parents. A special group of students have emerged and are being recognized for Achieving Greatness!!!. These dynamic students are more focused than ever and are mature enough to see the value in their education. SWAG students will take an Oath of Allegiance to the program and to our school to strive for excellence.
The Students Who Achieve Greatness program is a meritocracy in that each student progress or personal advancement is based solely on their achievements, abilities, and consistent efforts. SWAG is as a culturally relevant program intended for all students, primarily 5th – 12th graders. Students join SWAG on a volunteer basis only to ensure that every student’s commitment is genuine. The word ‘swagg’ is a social hip, urban slang word for possessing a ‘cool’ demeanor and sort of arrogant persona of one’s self yet normally based off today’s superficial values. Instead of these superficial values, SWAG aims to improve upon a student’s personal character with emphasis core values, self respect, teamwork, discipline, dedication, loyalty, accountability, consistency, pride, and overcoming adversity. Students who possess ‘swag’ in the SWAG program will strive to achieve greatness by maximizing their full potential through strength training routines and by holding themselves completely accountable for academic excellence. This program will tackle real issues among our students, their community and environment, and their personal well being. Topics under personal well being include self esteem, self image, drugs, sex/abstinence, relationships, safety, obesity, nutrition and fitness.
